I noticed that our very own Malcolm White and his company Krow (Work backwards) has won a significant piece of business for TUI which is great news - I for one wish them well. I saw Malcolm at the IPA Effectiveness Awards and asked if he was there to present/pick up any awards. He said that Krow was 'too small' to be able to win anything like that. Not any more perhaps - couldn't happen to a nicer or more talented bunch of guys - well done all.
Which brings me on to another thing I wanted to blog some time ago - but kinda forgot. In the Big Research Thinking category (which was absolutely inspiring I thought) there was a nod to some interesting semiotics from Justin Gibbons from Work.
He claimed that there was an interesting law that influenced how decisions within companies are made and/or complied with - particularly when it comes to 'brand' diktat. Now I didn't write this one down so this might be slightly incorrect - and - if there is anyone reading this who knows better (Justin where are you?) then please do correct me. However it was predicated on a heirarchy of Microsoft applications:
Dear old Outlook - almost anyone can add comments and disagree on round robin emails...
Ohhh hello... we have now gone to Word, bit more serious now this one, bit more tricky to ammend and we're getting a tad more serious here, not so many ammends to this - also as an attachment to an email it feels a little bit more 'official' and less open for critique...
Crikey - its in an Excel spreadsheet, not much room if any for change now, especially if it is one of those charts that you can't get into without everything reflowing, it's also probably got numbers in it now that somehow relate to the overall effect of its equity as fact,
Golly gosh - Powerpoint - the Big Daddy - absolutely no way you can change it now - the CEO's going to present this one, it is soon to become literally 'The Writing On The Wall'.
This was also alluded to by Chris Forrest from the Nursery when he mentioned his inherent distrust of the 'Onionistas' - those people who would never disagree with something that resembled a Brand Onion/Triangle/Key etc etc ad nauseum...
As I say - if you have any better recollection than me then please do post it (and I do apologise for the strange spacing between the icons above - not sure how to solve that one!)
