Hey APG & Campaign.
Congratulations on a great event. Really enjoyed it. Classy. Learned lots, met loads of good people (old & new) and relished the complete and utter humiliation of taking part.
I agree with Richard that Russell was a worthy winner - he was fabulous. But Jim, Chris, Justin and Greg were also fantastic. It would have been worth a whole day to turn up and hear any one of them on their own so getting all five in one event just shows you how good it was.
But here is an interesting thing. An hour after the event, I was talking to a couple of people over a crafty Coca-Cola and whilst both of them agreed that Russell was the winner, neither of them could remember a single one of his ideas. Testament to the power of his charm, his charisma, his style and his Magnus Pike impersonation.
Maybe this bears out the idea that it is style, tone and buzz that wins people over - but of course, it works best with good content like Russell's too. And playing a 60 second hommage to great planners (many of whom were in the room and armed with a voting pad) was also a touch of genius.
One other thing. A smart chap from The Guardian (Steve Wing) came up with a much better name for what I was talking about. He said I should have called it PROPAGATION PLANNING. I like that. And I will be using it from now on. Thanks Steve.
